Become a Volunteer to European Athletics U20 Championships in Borås 18th to 21st of July 2019. Are you the Hero we are looking for? Do you want to be a part of the team that will deliver a sustainable championship with world-class hosting? 

We are looking for team players who are passionate about service and always want to exceed our guests’ expectations!

We are looking for someone who is polite, service-minded and reliable.

It’s going to be a summer that you will never forget. You will experience amazing athletics competitions, Borås and its beautiful surroundings with lot of activities, new friends will be made and YOU as a volunteer will have one of the most important roles during the championships.

You will get an experience out of the ordinary, special U20 clothes, food while working, the possibility of making life-long friendships and new contacts, a chance to broaden your CV and much much more!

Being a volunteer
There will be many exciting volunteers’ missions and among other things, you can choose to work for exemple with accreditation, media, guest service and transportation. Further below on this page, you will find more information about the different tasks.

Anti-doping
At Anti-doping you are part of a team that will chaperone athletes who are selected for the anti-doping test. You will not be the one to perform the test, nor do you need to take one, but you will be the person that follows the athletes to the anti-doping facilities. Training for this role will be provided on-site. Here you must be courteous and show consideration for the athletes. Working knowledge of English is required.

Ceremonies
You will be joining the team which performs all the ceremonies, including the opening, flower, medal and closing ceremonies. You must be active and be able to perform your tasks under time pressure.

Facility service
Do you like to look after facilities and see that things are working as they should? Are you a doer who doesn’t see things as problems? Then we have a place for you in our facility team! Whether you’re a trained electrician, janitor or simply enjoy handyman work as a hobby, we have plenty of exciting tasks for you.

Accreditation
When you are working with accreditation, one of your main tasks is to see that staff, volunteers, teams, media and VIP have the correct accreditation which gives them access to specific areas around the arena. You will be working in the Accreditation Center and be the first point of contact for teams, media and VIP. You will also perform other related administrative duties. Working knowledge of English is required.

Transport/driver
Being one of the drivers during this Championships means you will pick up and drop off guest at Landvetter airport. There will also be transportations between all the hotels and the arena, Ryavallen during the event, you will be on call for other errands requiring transportation of both people and goods. Knowledge of English is required.

Media
As a media volunteer you will assist in operation of event Media Reception and Media Center. Duties include but are not limited to: set up and demolition of media work spaces; registration of international and national press corps; general event information distribution; photo copying and distribution of information about the competition, general questions and processing of additional general administrative duties. Volunteers must follow defined protocol when interacting with athletes, teams and their support staff. Requirements: Volunteers must be professional, courteous and pleasant. You must be prepared to work with international deadlines and be able to handle pressure situations. Second language skills are beneficial.

Parking guards
As a parking guard you will guide guests to find parking, and because we want to avoid parking chaos, your role is very important. The job entails showing people where they can park, making sure that everyone pays for their parking spot and also to stop traffic that is not allowed in certain areas.

Security
You will act as an access monitor and ensure that only people with the correct accreditation are allowed into accredited spaces around the venue. Polite but firm manner is essential for this role. Good knowledge of English is preferred.

Sales
You will be selling tickets and giving out information on where people should go. We will also have sales tasks at the cafeteria, kiosks and other places where food will be served. You need to be service minded and be able to perform your tasks under time pressure.

Team hospitality
In our team hospitality team you are going to be helping with a lot of different tasks such as making sure that our 47 different national teams are well taken care of during the event. You will be positioned in the team hospitality lounges to ensure that all support services are running smoothly. Second language skills are beneficial.

Information
We always want to give our guests the latest information and answer their questions. Information desks will be located at the airport, at all the hotels and at the arena. Working knowledge of English is required.

Volunteers infield
U20 championships is an athletics competition so of course we need volunteers infield. This task can include everything from transporting clothes to managing results. Volunteers must follow defined protocol when interacting with athletes, teams and their support staff.

Volunteers’ centre host
We want to give all volunteers a chance to recharge in the volunteers’ centre, which means that we will need hosts that can perform tasks such as making coffee, serving and preparing food, and much more. In short, we need someone that can create a cozy environment where volunteers can recharge.

Hosts and hostesses
We need someone to work in and around the VIP area, performing different types of service tasks for our guests such as serving food and providing information, always with personal treatment and professional service as host. Good knowledge of English is preferred.
